Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 : Learn about Specs, AnTuTu & Geekbench Score

Qualcomm has launched a new “8” series processor called Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. This chipset is said to be less powerful than the 8 Gen 3 as the clock speeds of the chipset have been slightly downgraded along with the GPU. You can understand the naming of this processor as Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 because it is more powerful than 8 Gen 2 and less powerful than 8 Gen 3.

Looking at the clock speed and GPUs of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, it’s a downgrade from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but it’s still more powerful than the 8 Gen 2. We can understand how powerful the processor is by looking at the tests below, let’s take a look.

Table of Contents

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 AnTuTu Score

It is worth mentioning that the benchmark scores of this chipset have been tested on the Realme GT Neo 6 (upcoming) smartphone. AnTuTu tests showed the processor scored 1846775, which was run on AnTuTu version 10.1. The AnTuTu score suggests that it can deliver performance on par with the Exynos 2400 (score – 1843885) chipset inside Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S24+ smartphone.

A comparison of AnTuTu scores shows that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 scored 13% higher than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. While the 8 Gen 2’s GPU is the Adreno 740, the Adreno 735 GPUs in the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 easily beat the 8 Gen 2. Compared to the 8 Gen 3, it scores 27.78% lower. The highest score of the 8 Gen 3 is found in the Asus Rog Phone 8 (Score – 2359969) based on which the parentage is calculated.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Geekbench Score

Geekbench tests showed a single-score of 1928 and a multi-score of 5723, running on Geekbench version 6.2. One disappointment here is that Geekbench scores are lower with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 than with the 8 Gen 2.

Perhaps the reason for the low score in Geekbench is the reduced clock speed of this processor [Maximum clock speed: 1x 3.0GHz (Cortex-X4)]. Another reason could be that all benchmark scores are more or less based on the specific phone; maybe the score is lower based on the smartphone on which this Geekbench test is conducted. A Geekbench test among all the upcoming smartphones with this chipset in the market will clarify whether this SoC truly scores more or less in Geekbench.

Let’s see how much lower percentage of scores is compared to the previous chipset:

The highest Geekbench score of 8 Gen 3 is locked in ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra (Single score – 2310 & Multi score – 7290). Compared to this, single score is 19.8% less and multi score is 27.27% less.

Also scoring 7.9% lower than the 8 Gen 2’s single score and 3% lower than the multi score, the 8s Gen 3’s score was slightly lower than the 8 Gen 2’s, but the score could have been better. Yes, it is good to say the Geekbench score of 8 Gen 2 has been taken as a reference for the IQOO Neo 9 Pro, where a single score of 2081 and a multi-score of 5892 can be locked.

Overall, the 8s Gen 3’s Geekbench score is slightly lower than previous chipsets. But it is not yet on the market, so the score can improve.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Specs & Features

Snapdragon Elite Gaming provides features like real-time HA Ray Tracing and frame rate enhancement. Qualcomm AI Engine with Hexagon NPU and Sensing Hub offers an always-sensing camera, low-power features for audio (Qualcomm aptX), and Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 mobile connectivity. As the SoC is based on 4 nm technology, battery efficiency will also be good. One thing to watch when the chipset is released on the market is how much control the chipset keeps on thermals. Our Verdict

Qualcomm says the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC is designed with “Specially Selected Snapdragon Experiences”. Yes, this tagline makes perfect sense to the processor. Even with the GPU and clock speed downgraded, the chipset doesn’t disappoint, be it in terms of multiple AI features or solid performance.

It is good to say that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset will increase the popularity of the “8” series of chipsets, and this processor holds its own position perfectly. There is only one drawback of this SoC, it does not support 8K video recording or 4K @120fps video recording.

In the ranking comparison chart: “Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 < Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 < Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3″. Although the 8s Gen 3 SoC stands between 2 and 3, but it competes well with the 8 Gen 3. However, don’t forget to share your thoughts about the processor in the comments section below.
